Sophie has been teaching the cello and coaching chamber music to students of all ages and levels for 15 years. She currently teaches one day a week at Lady Eleanor Holles School for Girls (LEH) alongside private pupils at her home in North London.
She believes that learning an instrument is something that should be accessible to as many as possible and that it can bring huge joy to people's lives. Sophie aims to keep a balance of learning being fun, whilst also emphasising the importance of good technique as she believes that ultimately, these two elements go hand in hand. If a student is able to make a beautiful sound and play difficult and exciting pieces with ease, then they are much more likely to enjoy playing their instrument. Plus, playing well opens up opportunities for playing with other people in small groups and orchestras and this has always been the most fun part of music making for her.
